BC Disability
December 7th, 2024
BC's provincial disability rates are far below the poverty line, while claw backs on extra income keep persons with disabilities from getting ahead.
This has been the case far too long, and it's time that changed.
Complete the form below asking for your MLA, Premier Eby, and the Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction to commit to action. Your message will be sent directly to them.
That means increasing PWD rates to at least $2100 monthly to meet the low-income classification for a single adult, and removing damaging claw backs and spousal caps.
Thank you for raising your voice; change is long overdue.

my name is Danica I am developmentally disabled I have lost my children my spouse and almost lost my home due to how low the pwd rates and the lack of care for someone unable to function mentally concerns me. I have tried to work and mc donalds and have had several major accidents including my blood all over the floor and the fries from trying to clean the fry hopper. My question is to please raise awareness of how dangerous it is for developmentally people to not be expected to do more then they are able and to be accepted to try when there's no alternative except maid. That simply is unacceptable that because we cant walk or see…
I’m on permanent disability by no fault of my own. I struggle every day to live. I can’t afford the normal every day items to be a human being in a country like Canada. It’s a disgrace how the government has spit on the most vulnerable populations in our country. I can understand why depression and mental health issues have skyrocketed amongst the severely poor populations. I have very little hope for my future. Thank you Justin, for taking away every single bit of comfort and affordability for myself and others who were born in this country.
